Exam practice

Finish the sentence (use at least 5 words including a verb – i.e 5 words or more and one of the words needs to be a verb!)

Try to think of three or four ways of finishing the sentences -not just one!

1.  Tired though I was, ….

2.  The new law gave rise …..

3.  After finishing my homework  …..

4.  I don’t know how ……..

5.  I thought he looked completely ………..

6.  The main cause of stress ………….

7.  I don’t remember …………

8.  I always dread ……………..

9.  It’s been on the market ………..

10 . She regrets ………….

    Hi everyone,

Sorry I have to cancel the lesson tomorrow (Monday 3rd May). Am adding this post to let you know that I won’t be able to make it to the lesson tomorrow as I am suffering from hay-fever despite having stayed  indoors and I am still feeling quite dreadful. Sorry about that, hope your May Day weekend was better! As you know Wednesday’s lesson had already been postponed. So here’s the timetable for the next few weeks.

    date.svg

    Next lesson: 10th May

plus a lesson on 12th May  and we can discuss the options of continuing to 17th as per your availability.

Let me also remind you of the  Exam schedule.  Here are the details:

Written exam on Tuesday 8th June 14.00

    Oral exams:

    • Friday 18th June at 9.0 (1st app)
    • Friday  2nd July at 9.0 (2nd app)

It would be helpful if you could decide on which oral exam session you have decided to attend prior to your written exam as we would kindly ask you to confirm your decision on the 8th of June. Please also add your names to the exam booking lists which will soon be available in Via Duomo. Thanks!

Hope you can catch up with some of the material and exercises from home tomorrow.  Looking forward to more blog posts and a huge round of applause to Valeria, Rita and Marco for their dedicated contributions. Thanks to to Alessandra, Graziella and  Federico for their invaluable input last month. Hope to read more from you all!

Phraseological “nuts and bolts” of writing

Here’s a great resource from The University of Manchester called the ACADEMIC PHRASEBOOK.

Once you’ve finished page p113 why don’t you check out these phrases and add to the tables you’ve prepared.
